DESIGN LITERACY FORUM X: Design for X

celebrates how the design discipline, in its short existence, has had profound effects on our lives. For almost a century, designers have sought to answer the question: what is good design? Today, we have come to understand that good design is designing toward a certain goal. Hence, there can be no universal solution. Instead, it is more about reaching for the best solution for each condition. This resonates with the idea of “design for x,” which has been adopted in engineering design for many decades with growing applications and guiding methodologies. To mark its 10th year of existence, Design Literacy Forum X invites academics and professionals to explore one’s own intentions and goals in design through the sharing of creative works that reflect how designing with a purpose can bring about new depths of life fulfillment by simply answering: What is your “x” in the function: Design f(x)? How can the “x” be achieved? And has it been achieved?
